Aerok 9110

Structural Adhesives

Aerok 9110 is a two-component, low-density epoxy adhesive/filler developed for bonding composite and aluminium honeycomb panels. It is suitable for filling and bonding internal or external kerf cuts in curved panels, and is widely used for “ditch and pot / cut and fold” applications and as an adhesive and edge filler.

Key features

  • Low density (0.70 g/cm³) structural void filler
  • Compressive strength >35 MPa; lap shear strength >19 MPa
  • High FST (fire, smoke and toxicity) performance
  • Soft, thixotropic paste that can be tooled with a spatula or tooling ball
  • Usable life 25 minutes; sets in 2 hours at 25 °C or 20 minutes at 60 °C

Due to its high FST performance, Aerok 9110 is used as an adhesive to bond insert blocks and to full-surface bond decorative finishes. The data sheet states it will meet the requirements of FAR/JAR/CS 25.853 (a) – 60 second vertical burn, ABD 0031/D6-51377 toxic gas emission and many other standards, depending on substrates and substrate combinations.

How to use

Weigh out the A and B components in the correct proportions and mix thoroughly until no streaking is evident (wear disposable, talc-free gloves). Fill edges and voids. The product can be tooled with a spatula or tooling ball dipped in water. Repair with Aerok 9110. Preliminary compatibility tests are recommended before application.

Typical applications

  • Bonding composite and aluminium honeycomb panels
  • Filling and bonding internal or external kerf cuts in curved panels
  • “Ditch and pot / cut and fold” applications
  • Edge filling
  • Bonding insert blocks
  • Full-surface bonding of decorative finishes

Health and safety

As with all epoxy products, avoid skin and eye contact and apply the usual industrial hygiene. Check the packaging for more information or see the Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
